I've just discovered that, sadly, Tony Gilbert, with whom I studied Composition in the early 1990s, has died.

Tony was an excellent teacher. He never invaded on a student's personal compositional style, concentrating on technique.

He's the second of my Composition teachers to pass away, the first being James Wishart some time ago.

A very engaging and respectful piece that captures the essence of Tony Gilbert’s story. The writing flows naturally and keeps the reader interested throughout. The explanations and reflections were clear and thoughtful, and I recently came across a similar discussion on a review blog, https://www.attn2detail.info/, that provided another interesting angle. This was a pleasure to read.

This article offers a respectful and engaging look into the subject, with just the right amount of background and reflection. It’s refreshing to see a piece that prioritizes depth over surface-level commentary. I’ve encountered a similar thoughtful tone in profile-style writing shared by https://thesagelawgroup.ca/, which made this especially enjoyable to read.
